Ministries

Children

At Royal Oaks United Methodist Church we take pride in our little ones.

When we have little one’s in service, we have a special children’s time that is led by our pastor. During this time the children will learn about the scripture of the day in a way they can understand.  They also have the opportunity to give an offering. The children decide on what special ministry to support and take such pride in making a difference.

We would love to see your little ones at church to join the fun!

Youth

The youth is a very important group of a church as they are the future of the church.  Our youth group is 6th through 12th grade.

Several of our youth recently went through confirmation classes. This is when they learn more in depth about God and profess their faith.

The youth participate in local outreach and church wide ministries. There are planned events for fun as well like escape rooms, go cart racing, and ice cream outings to name just a few.

Music

Music is a special part of worship for Royal Oaks United Methodist Church. We sing the standard hymns and on occasion a little gospel. No matter type of music we sing, it touches our soul, enhances our worship experience, and makes us feel closer to God.

Our choir is composed of all ages and skill level. Their music enhances our worship service each Sunday. A highlight of the choir’s year is preparing for and performing an Easter and Christmas cantata. Members of the congregation also sing solos, duets, or trios on special occasions.

Music is a means of reaching out into the community as well. Royal Oaks UMC has had the pleasure of hosting multiple gospel performers and also held Christmas concerts by local musicians. These concerts are open to the public and you are always invited to attend. There is no cost although a love offering is traditionally taken for the performers. Watch our website or any upcoming performances.

Fellowship Class

The Fellowship class lives up to their name. This class really enjoy community which can be found in smaller groups and getting to know new people of the church.

The class is made up of varying age groups. No matter what your age, you will fit in.

The study material varies from reading the Bible in a year, to the Andy Griffith series, to Life Guide Bible Series. This class looks for materials which will help each person grow along their Christian journey.

If you like to socialize and use fellowship to grow closer to God, this is the class for you.

United Methodist Women (UMW)

The United Methodist Women (UMW) is the women’s missional organization of the United Methodist Church. This organization focuses on worldwide women and children issues.

When Do We Meet?
The UMW of Royal Oaks UMC meet on the first Tuesday of each month.

In addition to supporting the missions of the greater UMW organization, the women of Royal Oaks participate in an internal Reading Program so they are more knowledgeable of the problems around the world.

They also support their own mission programs as well. The women have started a “Purse Ministry”.  They fill these purses with hygiene products and snacks which are then given out to shelters or to those encountered on the streets.  They have also continued the “Adopt an Elder” ministry with a woman who lived in Brooks Howell Home in Ashville.  She is supported with calls, cards, gifts, and visits throughout the year. The UMW are very active.

United Methodist Men (UMM)

United Methodist Men is the organization within the United Methodist Church which has coordinates the men’s ministry.  Our mission is “To Help Men Grow In Christ, So Others May Know Christ”.  This is accomplished through outreach ministries, training, making resource available, and partnering with other organizations and mission affiliations.  The United Methodist Men reaches into our local community through local churches like Royal Oaks UMC.

The Royal Oaks United Methodist Men’s Group’s goal is to be a living and breathing example of the mission of the United Methodist Men; “To Help Men Grow In Christ, So Others May Know Christ.”

We currently work to achieve this goal by looking for outreach opportunities inspired by those in the group.

When Do We Meet?
We meet the second Monday at 6:00PM of each month for dinner and fellowship.

We look forward to meeting you and supporting you in the outreach ministries you are inspired to take part in.
