What to Expect
Worship at Royal Oaks UMC is traditional with a blend of hymns and contemporary music. Worship is come as you are with persons dressing casually in shorts and a t-shirt while others wear their Sunday best. You will find the congregation reflecting a wide range of social, economic, political, and religious perspectives. We strive to be a diverse yet unified in our worship of our one God. You will experience warm and gracious hospitality from everyone.
We offer the worship service every Sunday morning at 10:30AM. Small Groups/Sunday School classes are offered for children, youth, and adults from 9:30-10:15 every Sunday as well.
Music holds a special place at Royal Oaks. We all may not sing the best, but we sing from our hearts and to the Lord. The choir sings with passion and performs both a Easter and Christmas Cantata. We sing both hymns and contemporary music. It all depends what song enhances the worship experience and the theme of worship that day.
Each service includes thoughtful and engaging sermons by our pastor. He either preaches using the lectionary or sermons based on the particular needs of the congregation or community. During the 10:30am worship service Sunday mornings we utilize music, scripture, prayer, and different types of media as part of the worship experience. Occasionally there is a sermon series based off a book the entire church is reading.
Royal Oaks celebrates communion the first Sunday of every month. We practice an open table so all persons are always invited to the Lord’s Table.
The children in our congregation are invited to the front of the church every week to hear a message specifically for them. This is a time where the pastor explains to the children the scripture for that day in a way they can understand. If they are too young to sit through the sermon, they are invited to enjoy our nursery.
